Working from Home? Redistribute Your Commute Time
In the midst of this pandemic, we are all traveling less. Whether that is a commute to and from the office, or not taking kids to school, or sports games, there is less time in cars and public transportation.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the average one-way commute time is 26.1 minutes. That means a full-time job for five days a week, calculates to 4.35 hours per week on average. Add a few more hours for various activities and the savings goes up to around 7 hours a week. That is an hour a day.
And while the first instinct may be to fill the time with more work. But in this time of uncertainty, consider engaging in an activity that brings joy. Go for a walk, with social distancing in mind, work on a project you haven’t had time for, and you enjoy, play with your kids, or have an amazing conversation with a family member or friend.
Take advantage of the time and the people around you.
